Radia perlman interconnections1/18/2024 ![]() The book contains extensive coverage of such topics as: *The spanning tree algor Book Details Perlman describes all of the major networking algorithms and protocols in use today in clear and concise terms, while exploring the engineering trade-offs that the different approaches represent. She is a major figure in assembling the networks and technology to enable what we now know as the internet. Written by the inventor of many of the algorithms that make switching and routing robust and efficient, Interconnections, Second Edition offers an experts insight into how and why networks operate as they do. Radia Joy Perlman (/ r e d i / born December 18, 1951) is an American computer programmer and network engineer. You will gain a deeper understanding of the range of solutions possible and find valuable information on protocols for which documentation is not readily available elsewhere. Interconnections: Bridges, Routers, Switches, and Internetworking Protocols. Additional new topics include IPX, AppleTalk, and DECnet. Radia Joy Perlman is an American computer programmer and network engineer. This Second Edition is expanded and updated to cover the newest developments in the field, including advances in switching and bridge technology, VLANs, Fast Ethernet, DHCP, ATM, and IPv6. It provides authoritative and comprehensive information on general networking concepts, routing algorithms and protocols, addressing, and the mechanics of bridges, routers, switches, and hubs. However, she did invent Spanning Tree Protocol, transparent interconnection of lots of links (TRILL), and Link-State Routing which makes her responsible for transforming ethernet from single-unit use to a robust multi-unit communication. Radia Perlmans Interconnections is recognized as a leading text on networking theory and practice. Perlman believes this title does not belong to a single individual. Perlman's many networking advances, including her work on the IEEE Spanning Tree Algorithms standard and the International Standards Organization (ISO) Intermediate System to Intermediate System (IS-IS ) routing protocols makes her well qualified to write this book. ![]() In fact, often her crystal clear explanations makes you wonder why you didn't think of the idea yourself. Perlman has the rare talent of explaining very difficult concepts in a way that makes them seem simple. Often while reading the book I found that I could not help but chuckle. Radia Perlman's book Interconnections : Bridges and Routers thoroughly entertaining! While entertaining is not an adjective that usually applies to technical computer texts, this book definitely qualifies.
