Her other students agree Tuesday afternoon many of her drama students spent their lunch time discussing things like the popular television show “Doctor Who” and the school’s upcoming production of “Little Shop of Horrors” - which she is directing - with her. Lundgren was announced as the local winner of the competition on Monday after judges determined Rowan submitted the most compelling essay for his teacher. The "My Favorite Teacher" competition is an annual essay/poetry contest that lets any student in Leon County explain exactly why their favorite teacher is the best. She’s also the school’s drama instructor. Lundgren is the English department chair at Godby and teaches Advanced Placement English Language and Composition and 10th grade honors English. Rowan’s essay on Lundgren earned her recognition as the winner of the “My Favorite Teacher” contest, sponsored by Barnes & Noble. She makes the classroom more fun and more interesting than other teachers.” “She’s very smart and very family-oriented. Lundgren just has this outlandish sense of humor,” Rowan said. That’s why he was able to craft an essay detailing exactly why Lundgren is his favorite teacher. The 17-year-old Godby High School junior has only had Randi Lundgren as an English teacher for one year, but the veteran educator has already left a major impression on him.
